McLachlin Inn was granted its charter on January 25, 2001.
The Inn was named after Beverley McLachlin, the 17th Chief Justice of Canada. Chief Justice McLachlin was the first woman to hold the position and is the longest serving Chief Justice. She retired from the position at the end of 2017. Prior to being appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada, she was a professor at the UBC law school and then served on the Courts in British Columbia, becoming Chief Justice of the Superior Court of British Columbia.
Chief Justice McLachlin has been a strong supporter of Phi Delta Phi, and her written remarks were well received by student delegates at the International Conventions in New Orleans and Fort Lauderdale.
The Barrister alumni remain prepared to assist students wishing to be involved In McLachlin Inn. Interested students should email president@phideltaphicanada.ca.
